13 days. That is the number of days left until I run my very first 10k. My very first Blue Nose. I’ve got one 2.5k, and four 5k under my belt. And this happens. 13 days before the big day. I cannot even think of a word to describe how awful I am feeling right now.. devastated…crushed…defeated…weak…angry.. sad.. I’m sure I could go on and on.
The good news is; I have literally THE BEST chiropractor in this entire universe, Dr. Charles (Chuck) Dauphinee. As soon as he heard about the pain I started experiencing after my 5k race yesterday, he made sure to find time to fit me in today to look at my leg, tape it up and give me firm instructions on what to do for the next few days. I am booked in with Mark, my physio, on Wednesday, whom I have seen before for a similar, if not the same injury months before I started with Team Myles. It was about 5-7 days last time that my leg got better after seeing Mark and doing the exercises he “prescribed”. I hope it will be the same this time. I have my fingers crossed this is just a small bump in the road and I’ll be 100% in no time.
Until then, I wallow in my sorrow. Stay off my leg, ice it every hour for 15 minutes, and see what happens. I just need to keep positive. Positive thinking=positive outcome, yeah? I sure hope so.
