Well, I guess this is where the rubber meets the road (to start my first blog post with a bad pun). For the last couple of years, in June I would tell myself : “Next year I’m going to run in the Blue Nose.” Which would result in a summer of half hearted attempts at training, a few treadmill runs in the fall and lots of beer and chicken wings once hockey season started. I’d heard about the ‘Team Myles’ experience from a number of alumni and thought it sounded like the kind of thing I wanted to try, the camaraderie, the encouragement and the strict training schedule all sounded great.
I was fortunate enough to work with Chris Larsen (BNM General Manager) and Wendy Levy (BNM Operations Director) on a number of other event projects over the last few years and it was through that relationship that I was extended an invitation to the 2013 Team Myles. The kickoff event at the Delta Halifax was a great inspiration. Hearing about the success of other team alumni and seeing the support system that’s in place inspires me to believe that I will be able to complete a 10k this coming May.
