Group run…32km turned into 35km – oops!

“Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it.”
-Oprah Winfrey

I decided this Saturday morning I would make the trek into Halifax and join the group from Team Myles. However, I decided to try and finish up early as I knew that it would be a LONG run with 32km on the schedule, so I got 6.5km under my belt before meeting the gang at 8:30am.

Running through Point Pleasant Park is fabulous, I came to understand and appreciate why so…many people take advantage of the park.  I got 2 laps of the park done before 8:30, and then we headed out through the terminals (past Pier21), along the boardwalk and turned around at the Gazebo at the Casino, headed back to the park for another lap, back to the casino gazebo and finished up with a final lap of the park.  All in all 5 laps of the park!  Each lap I enjoyed different views and cherished different moments.

The first half of the run I ran solo, as I stopped to refuel my belt, and enjoy some food…I met up with fellow team mates Karen and Brenda….whom made the remainder of the run thoroughly enjoyable, we shared great conversations and comfortable silences.  Thanks for being there!  I’m certain that we will be spending more quality time pounding the pavement in the weeks to come.

Today was a wonderful day for running.  Crisp air, bright sun, few clouds and a tail wind for the return!  Although I was suppose to run 32 km (according to the schedule that I am doing my best to adhere to thanks to Fred), I decided to help out a friend who needed some mental encouragement to Get’r done!  She did splendid and should be very proud of her achievements as it was her longest run to date, great work!

As I am sitting at home, listening to my family play…I am blessed to have the love and support of my family and friends.  Without their unwavering support I wouldn’t be able to accomplish the things that I truly enjoy and what my mind and body crave.

Thanks for sticking with me, Jennifer! Your encouragement was definitely what I needed this morning. Oh and I totally stopped for chocolate milk and pretzels afterward – favorite tip of the morning for sure!
