Perfect running weather

Today was a beautiful day for a run!  The weather was pristine, who would have thought it would be close to 10 degrees Celsius mid March?  Lets hope this trend continues.

Daylight savings played havoc on my sleep patterns, needless to say, I opted to sleep in and go solo for my run this morning.  Instead of meeting up with my running buddies for our ritual Sunday morning, followed by coffee…I enjoyed breakfast with my family and headed out as the sun broke the clouds just before lunch.  Heading out past the lakes, wind in my face (meaning it would be in my favor on my return) I was in my groove with my tunes keeping me slightly ahead of pace!

My familiarity of the route, allowed me to zone out and let my mind wander.  Today I reflected on the times my dad and I spent on the road together, running side by side, this one thing rooting us deeper and allowing us to bond even closer.  As my inspiration, he is the person I thank everytime that I lace up my sneakers and head out.  His knees have failed him after over 25 years pounding the pavement – fortunately, we will be able to jump on our bicyles and enjoy our time together in another sport very soon.

Knowing that I would be spending time chasing after my kids as they played outside, I decided to turn around early so to enjoy the day with the family.

All in all, it was a wonderful 16 km fallback week.  Nothing to complain about.  This is why I run!  Now to be creative with my running plan for the week – especially with the kids home for March break.  Will mean some EARLY morning runs, need to hit the pavement before my husband heads to work for the day.

Super-proud of you, Jennifer. The zone mindset and feelings are awesome! We missed your presence this week and glad you did Giv’er on your own from home. Good luck with March MAdness…
