Shoe Mountain, Shubie runs, and time to giv’er!

So, this weekend Team Myles headed to Mic Mac Mall to kick-off Shoe Mountain and Socks for Soles. It was great to help celebrate such a good initiative and lots of folks arrived with gently used shoes and new socks in-hand! We also got our AMAZING Team Myles shirts from our friends at The Running Room – don’t they look awesome?!

These are our serious faces…really!

After kicking off Shoe Mountain, we headed through the mall and off to Shubie park for a run. Some of the team made it 8km (HOLY!) some of us only made it 6k (I’m slow, and I’m okay with it), but it was a BEAUTIFUL day and it was perfect weather to run in. I got some VERY painful shin splints about 2k in, so I slowed down, walked, stretched, and just took it easy. I ran as much as I could, and walked the rest. I also ran into Heather, since I always lose most of the group (you guys are SO FAST!), and we went the last 3k back together.

First ones back - that makes us the fasties, right?!

Once we got back to the parking lot, I tested out my NEW Brooks shoes!! They are AWESOME. So comfy, so new, and SO pretty! Since I have really wide feet, I often just get plain ol’ black and grey shoes, but these, these are beautiful!

Happy runner and NEW Brooks shoes!

Tonight is our “test” run. I’ll be doing the 5k with Erin, and maybe a few others while the rest of the team does the 10k route. Can’t wait to run tonight!
